Light ivory strapless silk crepe soft mermaid gown with sheer back detail.
An “is she or isn’t she” detail—a skin-revealing cutout thinly veiled with flesh-colored illusion tulle—is the most barely-there embellishment yet in my collection this season. I really wanted to explore how I could achieve a high level of visual impact in the most understated way possible.
In Maeve, a very simple band across the back forms a geometric half-moon shape. But beyond this, there’s not a single thing on this gown anywhere—the dress itself is just a solid, fluid line of matte silk crepe.
For me, this season was all about making a minimalist statement—a return to wedding gowns that were crisp, cool, and uncluttered. I really feel like the ultimate expression of glamour is one continuous flow of beautifully draped fabric—something along the lines of wearing a single, perfect bangle, or a tiny pair of diamond studs. The most powerful statements can come from very subtle expressions. Maeve is exactly that—an experiment in creating maximum impact with the most minimal of gestures.
