First things first, where did you meet your husband? How did you know he was the one?
We met while studying at IESE Business School in Barcelona, Spain. He caught my attention a few months into the program during a romantic walk in Versailles, France. Six months later after returning from an exchange program in Shanghai he asked me on our first date – a long day hike. Three hours, twelve miles, and several villages westward, our connection was forever cemented.
How did he propose? Tell us the story!
Mark surprised me with a proposal while we cooked for a Christmas dinner party we were hosting that night. He placed the ring on the thigh of a quail in the fridge and asked me to check on the marinade. I will never look at a quail the same way again!
Once the wedding plans started, what made you decide on a Vera Wang gown?
There was no other option. The only wedding element I had dreamed about was a Vera Wang gowns on my special day. When I was younger I had seen Vera Wang dresses in a magazine and fell in love with dthem. The gowns are feminine, stylish, unique, strong and fun. Exactly how I imagined my wedding.
How did you accessorize to make your wedding day unique?
I wanted my dress to be the main focus, given its detail and grandness. As a result I went with minimum accessories: Diamond drop earrings and Christian Louboutin pumps.
What was the inspiration or theme for your wedding?
The inspiration was my fiancé and I, and everything thing we love. I wanted the wedding to be another way for our friends and family to get to know us better. A pure white classic color scheme with eclectic elements. The focus was on the details to arrive at the full picture: flowers, textures, architecture, textiles, lighting, views and sounds.
Did you incorporate any other Vera Wang products into your wedding? If so how?
My sister, the maid-of-honor, wore a black silk Vera Wang gown. I wanted her to feel as beautiful as I did my gown.
Did you stay true to the Old English wedding rhyme: Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue. If so, what were yours?
Yes, we did: Christian Louboutin pumps purchase the year before, wedding gown, garter from my sister, and lingerie.
What tips do you have for new brides picking out their wedding dress?
Try on various styles to gauge what suits you best, choose the dress that makes you feel most beautiful and princess-like, fall in love with your dress.
What was your favorite part of the day? And, are there any other anecdotes you would like to share?
Seeing everything come together and our friends and family enjoying themselves.
