Introducing our new bi-annual blog post, The Fabric Department, a source to connect and familiarize our audience further by highlighting the creative process and textile choice surrounding Vera’s latest ready-to-wear creations.
As the season of fall is on the horizon there’s no better time than the present to explore the fabrics that conceived the looks for Vera’s Fall 2012 RTW Collection.
Another major trend for Fall 12’ – Brocade everything! Pants, tops, dresses, bags and shoes have all been fair game for this raised‐pattern and woven fabrication. Vera channeled the opulence of this weaving technique and took it a step further for her Fall 2012 RTW Collection; jacquard. A rich Vault jacquard was engineered specifically for Vera Wang in Steel, Dark Green and Saffron colors. The collection’s underlying theme of architecture was present in the intricate pattern of the jacquard. Its precise, strict lines and perfectly symmetrical curves echo the arches and vaulted ceilings of the church interiors captured in the collection’s prints. The design was tinkered and trifled with until the pattern placement was just right for the group of garments below. Sheath dresses shown in both Dark Green and Steel Vault jacquard were elegant yet subtly sexy. A Saffron Vault jacquard dress will also be offered in stores. Dark Green Vault jacquard flared pants and peplums created smart, stately looks. Add a little whimsy to the sophisticated sheath dresses; pair ribbed socks with heels instead of tights. The sharp, fitted silhouettes of the Vault jacquard separates, pencil skirts and high neck tops can be softened with loose, flowing chiffon skirts or easy chiffon tops. Catch a glimpse of each of these looks below. The timeless shapes of these pieces will make them an instant go-‐to for seasons to come.
