On August 14, 2010 Hilary Duff wed Canadian ice hockey player Mike Comrie. Hilary wore a ‘mermaid’ style gown that was embellished by hand. “A mermaid shape clearly articulates the curves of the body. Ideal for an afternoon or an evening wedding, it also suits many body types; elongating on small women and extremely flattering on full body shapes,” says Vera.
“I wanted something that was deconstructed, not perfect and prim and proper,” Hilary stated. Vera ran with the idea, creating a breathtakingly romanic, blush silk tulle and organza mermaid look, adorned with giant blossoms made specially for Hilary. “This was the perfect dress for Hilary – fragile, youthful, sexy garden party,” explains Vera, who worked directly with Hilary on the design.
The ceremony and reception of 100 guests was held at a private 1920′s estate in Santa Barbara, California.
