First things first, where did you meet your husband and was it love at first site? I am Canadian and Heath is American. We met in Whistler, BC, Canada over a weekend in August 2005. I was living in Vancouver at the time and he was living in Southern California. We were instantly attracted to each other but both were slightly guarded knowing that we were from two different countries. After exchanging information we knew we had to see each other again and Heath came back up to Canada the following month to see me. We started dating long distance and made a commitment to see each other every month after that.

How did he propose? Tell us the story! Because I am Canadian I couldn’t move down and be with him for more than six months without being married. We knew this from day one but both of us didn’t want to rush into getting married without being 100% sure of our situation. We dated long distance for four years. Then Heath had purchased a new home and told me to pack my bags and move down. When I arrived in California he asked me to marry him.

Once the wedding plans started, what made you decide on a Vera Wang gown? I have always loved Vera Wang’s gowns but wasn’t set on getting one when I first went out looking for a gown. I didn’t know what I wanted, but when my mom and I walked into The White Dress and tried on a dozen gowns it was the first and last one I put one. It felt special and perfect.

As Vera has started to veer away from traditional white/ivory gowns shown in her recent Fall 2012 Collection, was an alternate color something you considered? I loved my ivory gown, but I have seen her new collections and I would have loved to wear a grey gown down the aisle!

How did you accessorize to make your wedding day unique? I am not very traditional, so I decided not to wear a veil because it didn’t feel like me. I wore an ivory tulle hairpiece and wore a long vintage necklace.

What was the inspiration or theme for your wedding? I’m in love with the Hollywood regency style, and I wanted to incorporate a modern/vintage feeling into the wedding. We also wanted a space that felt super intimate because our wedding was only 65 people. When we first went to look at the Viceroy in Palm Springs as a venue we knew it had all those aspects and would be a perfect backdrop for our big day.

Did you incorporate any other Vera Wang products into your wedding? (I.e. fragrance, fine papers etc.) If so how? We received Vera Wang China as a gift from our registry.

What tips do you have for new brides picking out their wedding dress? Choose a dress that makes YOU feel comfortable and beautiful. Stay true to your style and not what is currently the popular trend.

What was your favorite part of the day? And, are there any other anecdotes you would like to share? The whole day was gorgeous from beginning to end! The favorite part of my day was marrying Heath in front of our closest friends and family. Our reception was intimate and full of love, and of course I can’t leave out the amazing dance party!
