First things first, where did you meet your husband and was it love at first site? Brad and I met in Tallahassee, FL at Florida State University.
How did he propose? Tell us the story! After graduation I moved to New York to pursue a career, Brad went back to Maryland to get his MBA. Unbeknownst to me, Brad had things in the works months before I knew anything. He secretly met with my family and asked for my hand, and went as far as secretly flying my mother from Florida to Maryland to meet his family! On what I thought was an impromptu visit to NYC, Brad surprised me with a romantic proposal in Central Park to which I (excitedly!) said yes!
Once the wedding plans started, what made you decide on a Vera Wang gown? I tried on a lot of dresses, to the point where I felt like an expert! There were so many different designs (and designers!) to choose from, but I knew from the start that I wanted to veer away from any traditional gowns and find a fun dress that was going to make a statement. I wanted a dress that was going to be different, beautiful and unique and I think that defines Vera Wang’s dresses perfectly. No other designer really captured my personality as well as she did.
As Vera has started to veer away from traditional white/ivory gowns shown in her recent Fall 2012 Collection, was an alternate color something you considered? Most likely for my vow renewal! I initially fell in love with a nude colored gown that looked amazing, but realistically I wouldn’t have stepped out and done that – you really only get to wear white once.
How did you accessorize to make your wedding day unique? I didn’t want dainty accessories, I wanted sparkle but not gaudy and I think what I chose really complimented the dress.
What was the inspiration or theme for your wedding? The theme of my wedding was spring romance.
What tips do you have for new brides picking out their wedding dress? Be patient and be prepared to step out of your comfort zone. Initially I wanted a ball gown but instead ended with a mermaid.
What was your favorite part of the day? And, are there any other anecdotes you would like to share? My favorite part was standing at the end of the aisle and seeing Brad for the first time! It was amazing and I loved when we got to speak for the first time after the ceremony.
