Did you have a certain style in mind when you started your search for a dress?
I was fairly open minded when I started looking for my dress. I tried on many different styles, but soon realized that a ‘Mermaid’ style gown was what I wanted.
What made you decide on your Vera Wang gown?
The moment I saw Hilary Duff’s wedding dress (by Vera Wang), I completely fell in love! It was exactly what I wanted. The ‘Gemma’ gown is very similar to hers, and as soon as I tried it on I couldn’t wipe the smile off my face. I knew it was the gown for me.
Did you bring anyone along dress shopping? If so, did their opinions influence your final decision?
I had my Aunty & Cousin with me, as we were on holiday together from Australia. I was sending picture messages to my Mum & Sisters back home in Australia, so I could have them involved & get their opinions to. And of course, they all loved it. So my decision was a very easy one!
How did you accessorize to make your wedding day outfit unique?
I kept my accessories minimal; as the dress was so beautiful & detailed it really didn’t need much else. I just wore a Tiffany & Co bracelet and a simple pair of earrings.
What was the inspiration or theme for your wedding?
We didn’t really have one. Being a destination wedding, we just wanted to create a relaxed & enjoyable atmosphere. And we did just that. We all danced the night away (barefoot!) under the stars, sipping on delicious Hawaiian cocktails..
Did your gown style relate to any other design elements of the wedding ?
No. Three months out from the wedding, I still didn’t have a dress! So everything else was already organized, my gown was the last thing I had to tick off my list.
Did you incorporate any other Vera Wang products into your wedding? If so, how?
Yes I wore a beautiful Vera Wang veil; it finished off my gown perfectly. I also wore Vera Wang – Lovestruck fragrance. Now every time I spray it, it takes me straight back to the happiest day of my life.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Every little bit! How can I possibly choose? Being pronounced as husband & wife would certainly be a highlight… Seeing all the loving faces of our closest family & friends, looking at us with such happiness was a really special moment for us.
What tips do you have for new brides picking out their wedding dress?
You will know instantly when you try on the ‘one’. You get a feeling that you didn’t get from all the dresses you’ve tried on before. You’ll feel a sense of overwhelming excitement; you just HAVE to have it!!
