The CFDA Fashion Awards had a welcome sense of heightened energy this year, thanks to Fashion Icon Lady Gaga (and her 12-inch platforms). The Council of Fashion Designers of America hosted their star-studded annual awards ceremony last night at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in celebration of the 2011 CFDA Award Winners and Honorees.
The CFDA, a not-for-profit trade association, leads industry-wide initiatives and whose membership consists of more than 370 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry, and accessory designers. In addition to hosting the annual awards, which recognize the top creative talent in the industry, the organization offers programs which support professional development and scholarships (last night’s event raised $1.3 million for CFDA Programs!)
