Did you have a certain style in mind when you started your search for a dress?
I knew I wanted a strapless dress that was simple yet a little different, but I had no particular style in mind.
What made you decide on your Vera Wang gown?
It was extremely unique with silk organza pleats and ruffles that made it look like a piece of art. It fit my body and personality, and I also wanted a touch of color so the lavender sash made it perfect.
What was the inspiration or theme for your wedding?
Beautiful, simple, contemporary, elegant and fun.
Did your gown style relate to any other design elements of the wedding?
The wedding cake had lavender bows on it and my husbad wore a lavender tie, which related to the sash on my dress.
What was your favorite part of the day?
The look on my husband’s face when he first saw me in my gown, and also our first dance.
What tips do you have for new brides picking out their wedding dress?
Be open-minded and explore. Even if a dress does not seem what you had in mind, try it on because you never know. Have fun with it and make sure it represents and reflects who you are.
Are there any other anecdotes you would like to share?
My husband and I met on vacation in Spain and we love to travel, socialize, act like kids sometimes, enjoy our lives to the fullest, and we try not to take ourselves too seriously. We went out of our way to make our wedding fun, and a reflection of who we are as people. So we took photos at a local dive bar before our ceremony and in front of a wall of graffiti in Miami. Looking back at our pictures, these turned out to be our favorite photos and we are so glad we did this. Everyone loves seeing the contrast between my Vera Wang gown and my husband’s Prada suit and our surroundings.
