Did you have a certain style in mind when you started your search for a dress?
I knew I wanted a mermaid style dress, but I didn’t want any traditional bridal embellishments. I wanted the dress to be dramatic, unique and undeniably “me”.
What made you decide on your Vera Wang gown?
The cut of Magnolia was perfect and the bow added a couture detail. Having tried it on in Oyster, I asked for it in Plum and was given a swatch. Although I was unable to try the dress on in the color, I decided that it was so “me” that no other dress could ever compare.
What was the inspiration or theme for your wedding?
An autumn Parisian wedding with a grand chateau reception.
Did your gown style relate to any other design elements of the wedding?
The plum color of the dress was a unifying element which we used for flowers, pocket squares for the groomsmen and ribbons on the reception tables. The cake also had plumb accents.
What was your favorite part of the day?
Walking down the aisle with my Dad, with my husband in sight, and being surrounded by all of our family and friends who came in from around the world!
What tips do you have for new brides picking out their wedding dress?
Go with your gut!
Are there any other anecdotes you would like to share?
While my purple dress was surely a non-traditional surprise for some, it was absolutely divine and most buzzed about from my friends and family alike. It will forever serve as a dashing memento of our happiest day!
